Thinking about getting a puppy? Yes? Good, because I can't help you if you already got a puppy, at least not yet. I'm adopting a puppy from the humane society where I work and I'll be making a puppy guide! It'll cover everything from what should happen before your puppy comes home, the first couple months, and any obstacles you should face. This'll be a puppy guide to end all puppy guides.
Since parting ways with my last dog, my heart has been empty. Yes, I still have Norma and she is the most perfect dog who has every lived on this planet, but I need something more. I'd like a dog with a high drive that needs to do something everyday, and Norma is, well, a little lazy. She's older and is perfectly happy going for a short walk everyday. I'd like an active dog that needs training; one that I can do freestyle and agility with. And Norma just isn't that dog. I have a fun plan for Norma that I will talk about in a future blog post.
Now back to my plan for world domination... Uh, I mean my puppy plan. My puppy will be ready to go home Memorial Weekend, which is a very popular camping holiday, so can you guess what I'll be doing? Yep, camping. It will be an entertaining and exhausting weekend, I'm sure.
The puppies are about 4 weeks old and I have a little bit of an advantage because I will be there during the puppies crucial development and can handle them as I see appropriate, unlike someone who picked a puppy up from a breeder or humane society at 8-10 weeks and doesn't know what the puppy has been exposed to and what they haven't.
The guide will be week by week and I will also have corresponding videos posted on my YouTube channel, so be sure to check it out. If you'd like these emails sent straight to your inbox, please subscribe so you don't miss anything!
